Spanish moss drapes elegantly along low-slung branches that hide lurking alligators in shadow or a watchful snowy egret. Myakka River State Park takes in nearly 30,000 acres in its scope, one of Florida’s largest – and oldest – designated state parks. Wander hiking trails, scope out the scene from a lofty canopy walkway or hop an airboat tour out to destinations further afield. Cabins and campsites are available for visitors, as are bike rentals and airboat tours.
